About The Music

Expressions of Praise is a compilation of some of my original praise songs, written during devotions, and time alone with the Lord.  With the exception of ‘Walk of Faith’, the recording was done with two separate guitar tracks, allowing room for the addition of some improvised melodies.

About The Artist

I am originally from San Francisco, California and began playing guitar in 1969 when my oldest sister Connie, had been given a three quarter size, steel string acoustic guitar, by one of her closest friends.  Even though it was missing some strings, I fell in love with it, and soon became determined to make some music. 

I began to listen for the guitar in different types of music, especially the beautiful sound of the acoustic nylon string guitar in Spanish ballads, and popular love songs.  Maria Elena was one of my favorites.  Well, I got side tracked onto the electric guitar because of the rock and blues music of the late 60’s and 70’s.  There went about eight years, and a whole other story.

I remember taking my girlfriend Sandra to dinner one evening, when we were dating back in 1976.  Well, there was supposed to be a flamenco group performing at the restaurant that night - which she really wanted to see.  We got to the restaurant just in time to catch the tail end of the first set.  During the intermission a young guitarist came out on stage with a lute, and a classical guitar.  I had not seen a lute before, and was instantly curious about its features – including what type of sound it produced.  Well the guitarist introduced himself to the audience, and began to play his first piece on the lute exquisitely.  He then played the classical guitar, beautifully as well.  The sound of both instruments was captivating, but it was the classical guitar in particular, that truly caught my ear.  I believe the Lord brought inspiration that evening and opened my ear to a new sound that night.  Almost in an instant I began to crave the knowledge of how to play this beautiful instrument.  My entire approach to music changed in that one evening.  But that was just the beginning of new things for me.

The Calling of the Lord

Just a short time later, I received the Lord, and that’s when my entire life really changed.  Sandra received the Lord about the same time, and we knew God was calling us to follow him in a deep commitment.  We were married in 1978 and have since been blessed with three wonderful children, and we are expecting our first grand child this summer.

The Production

The family was involved in all aspects of Expressions of Praise, including graphic arts, photos, editing, song selection and lots of prayer.  The album developed over a period of about two years, in between hospitalizations, of our youngest daughter, Jahdiel – now twenty two years old, who was born with cystic fibrosis.  I hope to be able to share her incredible story with you in the near future.  So be on the look out for it.  She will set your heart on fire for the Lord, and his Kingdom!

Lord let us be awakened from the slumber of any complacency.  Satisfy us as we are  thirsting after your living waters.   It is an honor just to know you.  We rejoice and dance before your holy presence with an abandonment of heart, giving thanks to you for the revelation of your redemptive plan.  The love of the Lord has brought salvation to us, through his son Jesus Christ and we will ever lift our  eyes to you, throughout our walk of faith.
